Today I am just going to cut right to the chase!
What do you want? Now please pick a S.M.A.R.T goal.. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, & Timely.. I say this because I would LOVE to be five foot six not five one but we all know that is a goal that I will never reach (except with the help of some high heals ;]) My goals are to get to 16% body fat by October as well as become a Ruby Beachbody Coach by October. They are specific, I can measure my progress, they are possible to achieve so they are realistic and I established a timeline. So those are both SMART goals.
Now that we have that established it is also important to not lose site of your goal no matter how big or small.. Example when you start walking to another room to go get something and you get distracted by Instagram or Facebook and you reach that room & have no idea why you are there?Oh yea happens all the time!!
Just think if it happens with these little things what about your bigger goals?! How far off track are you there?
So how do we stay on track exactly? Set aside 1 hour a week (I make mine on Sundays between 9-10) to reflect on your past week.. Do the goods out weigh the bad? If yes then fantastic! If no then what want wrong? Identify the problem & come up with a plan to fix it. Also come up with smaller goals for the week to help you progress.
My example is being WAY over on calories for my week.. Problem ate out a TON this past week.. My plan limit it to two meals a week. I also want to post to my Facebook page at least twice this week & will try to talk to 50 new people a day.
It's all about baby steps to reach your goals.. Also don't be scared to go for your goals or ASKING FOR HELP to get there.I know for most of us we like to think that we don't need any help, we are independent, have on our big girl/boy pants & we got this! The biggest thing I learned is to ask for help! It may hurt your pride a little but it will help you get closer to that goal.
Now here is the big why this will help.
First, every single thing we do in our like is learned from somewhere. From our parents, friends, some class we took, or youtube video we watched.. When we were young we had to ask for help to open jars and to ride a bike but now do you even think about how to do that? (Well pickle jar can still be a bear!) My point? If you know someone who has been down your path & hit your goal they will know how to help you.. Heck someone probably helped them or they wish someone had!
Second, asking someone specific or just posting a generally status to Facebook will keep you held accountable. Trust me.. When I started my weight loss journey I told a few people about it & that I needed their help staying on track. I told them how much I wanted it & how important it was to me. I posted a status on Facebook & people followed up which kept me going. However no everyone is as open to telling people they are losing weight I as am. So if you want to join a free, closed weight loss challenge/support group then send me a message here.
The last step is be C O N S I S T E N T. Rome wasn't build in a day neither are your goals. It's that simple.
Also with consistency comes patience. I know we are currently in the "now" generation but "all good things will come to those who wait." I love that quote but not only do you need to wait but you need to work for that goal.
"We will receive not what we idly wish for but what we justly earn. Our rewards will always be in exact proportion to our service." Earl Nightingale
