Fit Guide to Surviving Football Season

Are you ready for some football?!?!

So I you can see I am a Charger fan. But this is really not about which team you are for. Lets face it football is infamous for beer and burgers. Football season is a big thing in my house. There is always appetizers, dinner, and dessert. So with food always being present it's hard not to munch. Also we are not at home we are a bar or games. So how can you enjoy the games and not fell deprived? Well I am going to tell you! I will tell you how I survive my house, other peoples houses, bars, & games. Also check out my Top 5 Ways to Stop Craving for more ways to help)

Houses

When you are at your own house you are going to have the most control over the food. So at my house food comes out long before the game is on. It normally consists of various dips including cheese, spinach artichoke, french onion, and seven layer dips. We all know you need something to dip so that is usually ruffles, tortilla, or frittos. Then come the mini corn dogs and fried shrimp. That is just the appetizers!! Then dinner is usually burgers and hot dogs with fries, macaroni salad, corn soaked in butter and baked beans. Then we have dessert cookies, pie or bananas foster and sometimes more then one. Not to mention with all this food you need drinks!

So my house isn't the easiest place for someone trying to lose weight or live a healthy lifestyle. Some of the tips I will give you will work at games or at a bar so I won't repeat them because you don't need to read them twice.

1. Buddy system. Weather this person is trying to lose weight or is just a friend or family matter it doesn't matter. My boyfriend is my buddy. Have this person be your support. If you start to get out of control have them tell you to step back. Have them be there to help you are be on your team.

2. Room Placement and small things to burn more. I pick the seat that is the furthest away from the coffee table. That way food is not in my reach so in order to get it I have to physically get up and that burns calories. I also stand when ever possible which also burns more calories. I also always make sure to stand up and walk a little during commercials. If you are like me you will stand up screaming a lot during a game but try to find other way to get on your feet. Now a lot of people don't think about this but when you have to use the restroom go to the bathroom that is furthest away from the room you are in. Lucky for me mine is upstair.

3. Food and plates. So when it comes to the munchies I always pick the smallest plate I can find and I only allow myself to eat one plate. That way I appreciate the food more and I am not eating bottomlessly. I also try to always have something guilt free like a veggie plate. I will also bring Pop Chips or Special K chips. This year Oikos has new greek yogurt dip so I am sure it will become a regular to our football parties. When it comes to dinner I take the smallest patty and I won't eat a bun instead I will wrap my burger in lettuce. If I really want one I will limit myself to half of a bun. I again pick the smallest plate I can find. I also will make bakes sweet potato fries in my oven so that I get a healthier version of fries. I will also make a Southwest Chicken Pileup if everyone else is having pizza. For dessert I will limit myself to one cookie, make Shakeology ice cream, have a skinny cow, or a banana with some cinnamon.
When you go to other peoples houses bring something healthy as a nice gesture for them having the party. Most of your friends should know that you are trying to be healthier so I won't offend them or anything. Also when ever I bring something like veggies or a healthier dessert there is usually a few people that really appreciate it.

4. Drinks During a game who doesn't love a beer? Well it's no secret that alcohol is high in calories. So I drink Budweiser 55. It may not be the best tasting beer but it's so low calorie that I am not complaining. I limit my self to two. Now if you like mixed drinks those can run high so try low calorie mixers like tonic water or something similar.

Games

There is just a few different things to do when you go to games. This season is going to be a little different. I used to sneak in food but now that only are allowing in clear bags so there will be no more of that.

When you go tailgating always pack healthier options for yourself and do some of the tips from above. However the main thing is inside of the game. Last time I went to a game there was literally nothing healthy. So you have to pick and choose your battles. Like a burger without the bun and no fries or figure out ways to cut the calories.

My last tip to you is to remember to have fun! Don't stress to much you still have to live!

I hope this help you out this football season! If you have any tip or tricks of your own that you would like to add please comment below!
